About this Program
There has never been a better time to work in information security. Systems and data are constantly under attack, and tech professionals and managers must be able to stay ahead of the game and deploy the latest tools and strategies to protect their valuable data.
This certificate program provides a thorough technical review of cybersecurity issues and gives you hands-on experience in combating common threats. You’ll investigate different types of attacks and learn how to apply protective measures to all aspects of a company’s technology and business operations. Make sure that your skills are up to date and your systems are well-defended in the pitched battle for information security.
DESIGNED FOR
Software developers, designers, architects, analysts and people with programming, database, system or network administration experience who want to become security analysts. This program is also good for IT managers who want to get hands-on in defense of their company's systems.

ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS
To apply, you must have ONE of the following:
- One year of work experience in systems, database, security or network administration
- Familiarity with software development or IT equivalent to one year of work experience
- Successfully completed the Network & System Administration course

Time Commitment
Including time in class, you should expect to spend about 6 to 8 hours each week on coursework.
English Proficiency
If English is not your native language, you should have at least intermediate English skills to enroll. To see if you qualify, make sure you are at the B2 level on the CEFR self-assessment grid. To learn more, see English Language Proficiency Requirements – Noncredit Programs.
International Students
To enroll, international students must have a visa that permits study in the United States. This program does not enable students to obtain or maintain F-1 visa status. For more information, see Admission Requirements for International Students.
TECHNOLOGY REQUIREMENTS
- Access to a computer with:
- A recent operating system and web browser
- At least 8GB of RAM
- Ability to install and run a variety of security tools
- High-speed internet connection
- Headset and webcam (recommended)
